New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to get information about the fire that broke out at the Maha Kumbh Mela site in Prayagraj.

Modi spoke to Adityanath over the phone after the incident, officials said.

A major fire broke out at the Maha Kumbh Mela after an LPG cylinder exploded, gutting 18 tents in Sector 19, officials said. There were no casualties in the incident, the government said in a statement. Kumbh Mela Chief Fire Officer Pramod Shah.

Fire at Maha Kumbh Mela

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the fire site and spoke to officials and fire brigade teams at the scene.

Maha Kumbh Mela Fire: A major fire broke out at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The fire broke out in Sector 19 of the Maha Kumbh Tent City. Police said the fire broke out due to a cooking cylinder explosion.

 Kumbh Mela Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma said that 15 fire engines were deployed to douse the fire in 18 tents.

The fire broke out in the Geeta Press tent around 4.30 pm, Prayagraj District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar told ANI. “There are no reports of any casualty. The situation is under control,” he said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reacted to the fire incident. He visited the fire site and spoke to the officials and fire brigade.

According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Adityanath and enquired about the fire at the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Uttar Pradesh Minister AK Sharma told ANI that the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.

 “No one lost their life in this incident and for this I express my gratitude to our Ganga, Triveni, and Late Hanuman ji. Our police team and NDRF are at the spot,” he said.

 The Samajwadi Party also expressed grief over the incident in a post on Twitter and asked the government to expedite relief and rescue operations. “The party expresses grief over the incident and prays for the safety of all devotees.

It is the responsibility of the government to ensure safety, control the fire and prevent such incidents from happening in the future,” Samajwadi Party spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand told PTI. The party believes that the incident is tragic and has urged the government to provide necessary facilities to devotees at the Kumbh Mela.

Maha Kumbh Mela 2025

Maha Kumbh will begin on January 13 and continue till February 26. Devotees from various states and around the world will immerse themselves in the spiritual atmosphere of the holy confluence. In the six days of the Maha Kumbh Mela, over 7 crore devotees and revered saints took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. The Uttar Pradesh government has estimated that over 45 crore people will attend the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela.
